Catch deadlines before they cost you

Missed state deadlines turn into late fees, loss of good standing, and left long enough, a suspended entity. State Compliance surfaces every deadline early and clearly, in more than one place, so a due date never depends on you remembering it.

On the dashboard

Three things on the main State Compliance page keep deadlines in view for the selected entity:

  • Next deadline tile: the single most urgent date, with the filing name and a File now shortcut. If it's already past, it shows how many days overdue (e.g. overdue by 279 days)
  • Filing deadline column: the next due date for every state in Your states, with past-due dates flagged Overdue in red
  • Open items to resolve tile: rolls up everything needing action across all your states, including both approaching and overdue filings, e.g. "4 items need attention across 4 states"

Use the Open items filter above the table to narrow it to just the states with something outstanding.

On a state's page

Open any state and a banner at the top shows that state's most urgent deadline, colour-coded by urgency:

  • Amber when it's approaching: California Statement of Information due Jul 31, 2026, 3 days left
  • Red when it's passed: State Franchise Tax - Delaware was due Mar 01, 2026, overdue by 148 days

Either way the banner carries a File now shortcut. Lower down, the State Compliance section lists that state's filings with their own status, a red Overdue badge or a countdown like "in 3 days," and a Start filing button on each.

What gets tracked

Inkle tracks the recurring state filings your entity is on the hook for, including annual reports and Statements of Information, Delaware's State Franchise Tax for entities incorporated there, and your registered agent's expiration. New obligations also appear here as they arise, when you expand into a new state or start hiring there and add it to your dashboard.

Staying ahead

Beyond showing deadlines on screen, Inkle surfaces upcoming and overdue items through your account notifications so you're prompted without having to check. Two habits keep you clear:

  • Resolve missing info early. If a state is waiting on a detail, add it well before the deadline so a filing isn't held up at the last minute
  • Move your registered agent to Inkle. Handing registered agent service to Inkle gives you automatic deadline tracking and consolidated notices for that state, so nothing arrives only by post to an address you don't check

If something is already overdue

Don't panic. Open the affected state and select Start filing to bring it current. If an entity has fallen out of good standing or been suspended, use Fix or revive an entity in Quick Actions, or Reinstatement / Revival under Order a service, to restore it to active good standing.
