How to complete your Estimated Tax filing details on Inkle
When your Estimated Tax filing is ready to be prepared, Inkle asks you to fill in a short set of details before it can calculate what you owe and process the payment. This step exists because your quarterly estimated tax depends on real, current financial data plus a few identity and payment details, so the numbers Inkle shows you are accurate and the payment can actually go through once you approve it.
How this works on Inkle?
Clicking Add Details on your Estimated Tax filing opens a four-step form.
1. Entity Detail
Enter your company's EIN. This is used to validate your identity and complete the advance tax payment.
2. Business Financials
How Inkle calculates your estimated tax depends on whether you use Inkle for Monthly Bookkeeping.
If you use Inkle for Monthly Bookkeeping
You don’t need to provide your financials separately. Your books are already maintained by Inkle, and we use the financial data you’ve reviewed and confirmed as the basis for calculating your estimated tax.
If you don’t use Inkle for Monthly Bookkeeping
We need your financial data for the relevant period to calculate the estimated tax you owe for the quarter. For example, for a Q3 filing, we may need your income statement for January through July.
If you have your financials ready, select “Yes, I have” and provide them directly. If you don’t have them, select “No, I don’t have” and either ask your bookkeeper to provide them or have Inkle prepare them for you through Monthly Bookkeeping.
If you have financials from a previous year, you can also upload them by clicking the “Click here” CTA at the bottom of this section. You’ll be asked to select the year for which you’re providing the financials.
Uploaded previous-year financials will be used as the source of truth for estimating your tax liability. Because they are based on a previous year’s financial performance, the estimate may not be exact, but it should provide a close approximation of the tax you may owe.
3. Estimated Taxes
Once your financials are in, Inkle calculates your estimated payment for the quarter and shows a breakdown: total taxable income, annual federal tax, and how much you've already paid year to date. Click View full details to see the full calculation.
4. Bank Details
Inkle asks whether you have a US bank account. If yes, select your bank so the payment can be routed through a verified bank transfer. If you don't have a US bank account, you can choose to have Inkle handle the tax payment on your behalf. Note that a 4% service fee applies to the payment amount in this case.
Once all four sections are complete, click Review & Submit.
