How Inkle handles your QuickBooks

There is nothing to export, rebuild or retrain. We join your company file as your accounting firm and continue from wherever your books stand today, including any months that have fallen behind.

Clearing the "For Review" tab

Every bank and credit card transaction is matched or added to the correct account, with bank rules for recurring items.

Resolving "Ask My Accountant"

We attach receipts and confirm unclear payees with you, so nothing is left in Ask My Accountant or Uncategorized Expense.

Reconciling every account

Each bank and credit card account is reconciled to its statement with a zero difference.

Closing the month

We post month-end journal entries, close the books and send your Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash Flows.

What your bookkeeper does in QuickBooks each month

Categorization

We work through the For Review tab, match transactions to open invoices and bills, and create bank rules for recurring items. Transactions posted automatically by the QuickBooks Accounting Agent are reviewed as well.

Reconciliation

Every bank and credit card account is reconciled against its statement until the difference is zero, without forcing balances or posting to Reconciliation Discrepancies.

Journal entries

We record what bank feeds do not capture, including payroll, depreciation, prepaid expenses, accruals and deferred revenue, so each month's results are stated correctly.

Financial statements

After each close you receive your Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash Flows, with a brief note on significant changes. Your bookkeeper is available to walk through them on a monthly review call.

Clarification before categorizing

When a transaction is unclear, we ask you rather than leave it in Uncategorized Expense or Ask My Accountant.

Year-end

We set a closing date in QuickBooks so closed periods cannot be changed, and your books are ready for federal and state filings, including Form 5472 for foreign-owned US companies.

Onboarding begins with a single call

01
Introductory call

We review your setup, monthly transaction volume and any backlog, then recommend a plan.

02
Grant access

Invite Inkle as your accountant from Manage users. You can remove our access at any time.

03
Catchups

If earlier months are not reconciled, we complete them first so each close starts from the correct opening balance.

04
Monthly close

From then on, we close your books each month and send your financial statements.

Software and service in one place, whenever you are ready

Inkle is an accounting and tax firm for US businesses. Alongside bookkeeping, we prepare and file federal and state taxes through Inkle Tax, handle incorporation through Inkle Incorporate, and provide registered agent and mail services through Inkle Mailroom. US-licensed professionals are available by chat, phone or Zoom.

Inkle Books is our own accounting platform. It connects to your bank, card and payment accounts, categorizes transactions with AI, and provides live financials, supported by the same bookkeepers who close your month.

You are welcome to stay on QuickBooks for as long as it serves your business. If you decide to move, Inkle Books imports your full history, so nothing needs to be rebuilt.

Bookkeeping and tax under one team

When you also use Inkle Tax, your closed QuickBooks books pass directly to our tax team at year-end. There are no exports to prepare and no figures to reconcile between two firms.

What is Inkle?
Inkle is an accounting and tax firm for US businesses. We combine software with US-licensed bookkeepers and tax professionals to handle bookkeeping, federal and state tax filings, and ongoing compliance.
Do I have to switch from QuickBooks to use Inkle’s bookkeeping service?
No. We work inside your existing company file, and your subscription, data and sign-in stay the same.
How does Inkle get access to my QuickBooks?
From Manage users, open the Accounting firms tab and invite Inkle. Our bookkeepers receive their own accountant access, so you never share a password, and you can remove it at any time.
What’s included each month?
Clearing your For Review tab, resolving Ask My Accountant, reconciling your bank and credit card accounts, posting month-end journal entries, and delivering your Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash Flows after each close.
Who owns my QuickBooks file?
You do. The subscription, file and history remain on your Intuit account. If you end the engagement, you remove our access and everything stays in place.
Can I move from QuickBooks to Inkle Books later?
Yes. Inkle Books can import your full QuickBooks history if you decide to switch.
Does Inkle file my taxes too?
Tax preparation and filing is offered separately through Inkle Tax. If you use both, your year-end books pass directly to our tax team.
