Does an EIN cost anything?

EIN & business identity

No. The IRS issues EINs free of charge, and the application takes around ten minutes if you have an SSN or ITIN.

Sites charging a fee are filling in Form SS-4 on your behalf. That can be worth paying for if you have no US tax ID and are filing by fax, but the number itself is always free.
