Overview:

HubSpot is the CRM most startups run their sales through: contacts, deals, pipeline stages, and the record of who agreed to pay you what.

That record matters to your books more than most founders expect. A closed deal is a receivable the moment it's signed, not when the payment clears weeks later. If your CRM and your books live in separate places, your accounts receivable is only as accurate as the last time someone remembered to move a deal across, and revenue recognition slips to whenever cash happens to land.

Inkle's HubSpot integration closes that gap. Customers and closed deals flow into Inkle Books, where they're categorised and reconciled in the background alongside your banks, cards, and payment processors. Your receivables reflect what your sales team actually closed.

Features

Customers sync from your CRM

Contacts and companies come across as customer records, so you are not maintaining the same list in two separate systems.

Closed deals become receivables

Deal value and close date flow into your books, so revenue is recognised when earned rather than when cash arrives.

Invoices match your CRM

What you bill lines up with what your pipeline says you closed, removing the most common source of AR disputes.

Sales and finance agree

When the CRM and the books draw on the same records, there is one answer to what you closed last quarter.

Categorised in the background

HubSpot sits alongside your banks, cards, and Stripe in Inkle Books, so AP and AR are handled without your involvement.

Secure, read-only access

Inkle reads your CRM records and cannot edit deals, move pipeline stages, or contact anyone in your customer list.

FAQs

Why connect a CRM to bookkeeping software?

Because your CRM knows about revenue before your bank does. A deal closes, an invoice goes out, and payment arrives some number of weeks later. Accrual accounting recognises that revenue at the close, not the payment. Connecting HubSpot means your receivables reflect your actual pipeline rather than a manually maintained list that's always slightly out of date.

Does connecting HubSpot change anything in HubSpot?

No. The connection is read-only. Inkle reads customer and deal records and cannot edit deals, move stages, or contact anyone in your CRM.

Which deals sync across?

Closed deals, since those are the ones that create a receivable. Open pipeline is a sales forecast rather than an accounting event and doesn't belong in your books.

Can I use HubSpot alongside Stripe?

Yes, and most startups should. They answer different questions: HubSpot tells your books what you're owed, Stripe tells them what you collected. Together they give you a complete AR picture from close through to cash.

What if my deal values don't match my invoices?

That mismatch is the point of connecting both. When the CRM and the books disagree, it surfaces in your books rather than staying invisible until someone chases a payment that was never invoiced.
